CENTER OF ART

It was the birthplace of various famous artists from all over the world including Andrea Bregno, undoubtedly the best known.

A tiny district located west of Osteno and may boast being the birthplace of various famous artists including Andrea Bregno.  The Oratory of San Rocco was built after the severe outbreak of plague which occurred during the 17th century.

It was built to give thanks for the lack of infection which the district had suffered and in memory of the many victims of Valsolda, who were buried along the lake shore, a few kilometers from Righeggia.

The church is characterized by its ancient truss in wooden beams, inspired by Romanesque style.

Several local artists have contributed to wall’s fresco which depicts Saint Rocco’s life.

The frescoes were later retouched by Verzetti.
